Carpet beetles are commonly found in carpet, furniture, bird nests, leather, clothing and other materials that contain animal products and natural fiber. They actively feed in dark cracks and crevices.

Known Health Issues

Carpet beetles are harmless to humans, but they can cause substantial damage to carpet, furniture and clothing, which is expensive to replace. The bristles on carpet beetle larvae can cause skin irritation, but even that is rare.

Carpet beetles larvae cause the damage to the furniture, carpet, clothes, in your home etc. The larvae feed in dark places on a materials such as wool, silk, leather, natural bristles, pet hair and feathers.

Carpet beetles are often mistaken for bed bugs, but they are quite different from each other. Bed bugs feed on human blood while carpet beetles prefer pollen and nectar. Carpet beetles can be carried inside the home by flowers, food and furniture. Unfortunately, carpet beetles can fly, which can cause them to move easily throughout your home onto furniture, clothing and more valuable possessions.
