- Bites on your ankles and lower legs — Flea bites on humans typically appear as small, red, itchy bumps in clusters around the feet and ankles.
- Flea dirt on furniture or bedding — Those tiny black specks are actually flea feces — digested blood. Place some on a damp white paper towel; if it turns reddish-brown, it’s flea dirt.
- Seeing fleas jump — Adult fleas are small, dark brown, and fast. You might spot them hopping off carpet, furniture cushions, or pet bedding.
- Larvae in carpet fibers — Tiny, white, worm-like larvae hide deep in carpet, under furniture, and along baseboards. Hard to spot, but they’re there if adults are present.
