Fleas move fast, reproduce faster, and are genuinely miserable to deal with. A single flea can lay up to 50 eggs per day. Those eggs fall off pets into carpet, bedding, and floor cracks — and hatch into larvae that can remain dormant for months. Most over-the-counter products kill adults but do nothing to the eggs and pupae already in your home. Breaking the flea life cycle takes a targeted, multi-stage approach.

Signs of a Flea Infestation

  • Pets scratching constantly: Dogs and cats are the most obvious indicator. Excessive scratching, especially around the neck, ears, and tail base, points to flea activity.
  • Flea dirt: Tiny black or reddish-brown specks in pet bedding, carpet, and on your pet’s coat. Wet a few specks on white paper — if they turn reddish, that’s digested blood (flea feces).
  • Bites on ankles and legs: Fleas jump to the nearest host. People often get bitten around the ankles and lower legs, especially in heavily infested rooms.
  • Seeing fleas jump: Small, dark, fast-moving insects on light-colored carpet, bedding, or your pet’s fur.
  • Fleas without pets: Moving into a home previously occupied by pet owners? Dormant flea pupae can hatch weeks or months later when they detect vibration and warmth.
