Signs of a Flea Infestation
Fleas are tiny — about the size of a sesame seed — but their effects are hard to miss:
- Pets scratching excessively. Constant scratching, biting at their fur, or red irritated skin — especially around the base of the tail and belly.
- Flea dirt on pets or bedding. Small black specks that turn reddish-brown when wet. That’s digested blood. Check your pet’s belly, neck, and around the ears.
- Bites on your ankles and lower legs. Flea bites on humans show up as small red bumps, often in clusters. They itch intensely.
- Seeing tiny jumping insects on furniture, carpet, or pet beds. Fleas can jump up to 13 inches — far for something that small.
- Flea larvae or eggs in carpet. The eggs are white and almost invisible. Larvae look like tiny translucent worms and hide deep in carpet fibers.
Why Fleas Are Common in Runnells

Our Flea Control Process
Over-the-counter flea bombs and sprays rarely work. They don’t reach the places fleas actually live — deep in carpet fibers, in couch cushions, inside cracks in hardwood floors. And they do nothing against pupae, which are protected inside cocoons and can lie dormant for months.
We use professional-grade adulticides combined with insect growth regulators (IGRs). The adulticide kills live fleas on contact. The IGR prevents eggs and larvae from developing into biting adults. This combination breaks the flea life cycle at multiple stages.
We treat all flooring, upholstered furniture, pet resting areas, and any other surfaces where fleas are active. We’ll also treat exterior areas like porches, decks, and shaded yard areas where pets rest.
You’ll need to vacuum thoroughly before and after treatment — vacuuming triggers pupae to emerge, exposing them to treated surfaces. Your pets should be treated by your veterinarian simultaneously. We handle the house; your vet handles the animals. It’s a team effort.
A follow-up treatment two to three weeks later is usually recommended to catch any fleas that were in the pupal stage during the first treatment.
