Trapping involves setting traps in active surface tunnels. We identify which tunnels are being actively used (not all of them are), place traps correctly, and check and reset them as needed. Trap placement and technique are critical — an incorrectly placed trap in an abandoned tunnel accomplishes nothing.

Baiting uses worm-shaped bait laced with bromethalin or similar active ingredients that moles mistake for their natural food source. This is an effective approach in active tunnel systems where trapping is difficult, such as deep tunnels or heavily landscaped areas.

We also discuss grub control as a complementary measure. Reducing the grub population in the lawn removes a portion of the mole’s food source and makes the property less attractive. This doesn’t solve an active mole problem on its own, but it reduces the likelihood of reinfestation after removal.
