Roaches are one of the most resilient pests we deal with — and one of the most alarming to find in your home. They contaminate food surfaces, trigger allergies, and are notoriously hard to eliminate without the right products and approach. Seeing one roach during the day often means a significant population is hiding out of sight. Most infestations are larger than they appear.

Signs of a Roach Infestation

  • Live roaches, especially during daylight: Roaches are nocturnal. Seeing them in the open during the day signals overcrowding — an infestation big enough to push them out during off-hours.
  • Droppings: Small, dark, pepper-like specks near food prep areas, under sinks, in cabinet corners, and inside appliances.
  • Egg capsules (oothecae): Dark brown, pill-shaped casings in hidden locations — behind appliances, inside cabinets, in wall voids.
  • Musty odor: A distinctive oily, musty smell that intensifies with large populations. Often noticeable in kitchens and utility areas.
  • Smear marks: Brownish streaks along baseboards, walls, and surfaces in high-activity areas.

Why Roaches Are a Problem in Glenwood

German roaches — the most common indoor species — spread through grocery bags, secondhand appliances, and shared walls in multi-unit buildings. They thrive in kitchen and bathroom environments where heat, moisture, and food debris are present. The Glenwood area’s older housing stock has plenty of wall voids, pipe gaps, and tight spaces that give roaches ideal harborage. American roaches (the larger “water bugs”) come in through sewer connections and basement drains, especially during wet weather.

Our Roach Control Process

We identify the species first — German roach treatment and American roach treatment use different approaches. For German roaches, gel bait applied strategically inside infested areas is the most effective method. Roaches feed on the bait and bring it back to harborage areas, killing others. We combine bait with insect growth regulators to prevent eggs from maturing and residual applications in harborage zones.

For American roaches and exterior-entry species, we treat entry points, drains, and exterior perimeter. Follow-up visits are standard for German roach jobs — monitoring confirms the infestation is resolving and allows for bait replenishment if needed.
