Miller Pest & Termite is very conscious about the environment. When it comes to your home and termite control, we provide the best and most effective treatment available today that has little environmental impact. We offer both the Sentricon system ®, and liquid termite treatment.
Sentricon provides proven total colony elimination! There have been numerous organized field tests completed by the EPA, U.S. Department of Agriculture, research completed by 30 universities, and over 70 articles proving that Sentricon effectively eliminates termite colonies. You can easily find “colony elimination” on the manufacture’s label.
Liquid Barrier Treatments are designed to only kill individual termite workers, not the entire colony. No liquid termiticide can claim colony elimination. You will only find statements like “termite control” or “termite management”.
Sentricon provides a proven results by eliminating the entire colony. Sentricon bait stations are installed around the perimeter of your home and contain a cellulose material that is highly preferred over wood. Each Always Active bait tube has enough power to kill millions of termites.
Liquid Barrier Treatments provide a short-lived solution. When a liquid treatment is being used for termites, the service would involve injecting chemical into the soil around the home which will only kill individual termites who come into contract with the treatment. The problem with chemicals such as Termidor, is that they can only be transferred to termites within a limited area. Several universities, including The University of Florida, have determined that the “transfer effect” is only effective up to 15 feet from the treatment area.
Sentricon starts eliminating the colony as soon as termites are exposed to the bait. Wood consumption can be cut in half in as little as 2-3 weeks. Depending on the size of the colony it could be completely eliminated in 90 days.
Liquid Barrier Treatments don’t eliminate the colony and are only proven to “manage” or “control” the colony. Most manufacturers say it takes 90 days to “control” or “manage” the termite colony. After a number of years, a “booster treatment” would need to be completed to replenish the decaying chemicals in the soil.
Sentricon is the most non-intrusive method available. Sentricon requires no concrete drilling. Each bait station can be installed every 8 – 10 feet apart around the perimeter of a home, garage, shed, tree stumps, wood piles, or any other possible source of food to termites. Every Sentricon station is locked and tamper resistant for your protection.
Liquid Barrier Treatments can be very intrusive. Hammer-drilling is required on all attached exterior concrete areas every 12 to 18 inches depending on product used. If termites are found inside, this can also mean pulling carpet, drilling concrete, or having to drill through tile flooring. This treatment method also has the possibility of damaging sewer, gas, and water lines. After the treatment is complete, usually all holes are plugged and then patched with concrete. The holes in the concrete can be an eye sore on your property.
